Elevated photography, ground based aerial photographyWhat is elevated photography?  Elevated photography, or low level aerial photography as it is sometimes called, is the principle of mounting a camera above ground level on a support.  Unlike most other elevated photography companies, Elevon Photography only uses professional D-SLR cameras.

How does elevated photography work?  Elevon Photography uses top specification 60' (17M) pneumatic masts, mounted on 4x4 vehicles (typically Land Rovers).  Mounted on the top of the mast is a fully remotely controlled pan and tilt head, together with a motorised zoom control, to support and operate the D-SLR camera.

The unique remote head allows the camera to see full 360 degrees, including straight up and (almost) straight down.  The head, zoom and all camera functions are controlled by software installed on the computer in the vehicle.

Why do I need elevated photography?  How many times have you thought 'this photograph would have been better if the photographer could have got the camera higher'?  Now you can ~ up to 60' higher!  Almost every exterior shot can be improved by using elevated photography techniques.

Which areas do you cover?  Although based in Northern England, covering all of Northern England, Central & Southern Scotland, we can (and do) travel to all other parts of The UK and beyond.

Can your equipment be used away from the vehicle?  Yes.  The mast can be removed and used freestanding almost anywhere, including inside buildings.  This means we can take photographs from near a very high ceiling, or from the middle of formal lawns for example.

Do you offer Conventional Photography as well as Elevated Photograph?  Yes.  Elevon Photography offers Conventional Photography as well as Elevated Photography.  Please our Conventional Photography page.

Can you shoot at night?  Yes!  We can shoot almost anywhere at anytime.

What are professional D-SLR cameras?  D-SLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) are used by photography professionals worldwide and give greater  quality and flexibility compared to non D-SLR cameras such as compact cameras, which are generally bought by the public for amateur use.

Elevon only uses D-SLR cameras and shoots in RAW (with conversion of the image to the format of your choice, typically TIFF or JPEG).  D-SLR cameras also allow a range of lenses to be used to give stunning results from wide angle (12mm) for a full view of the scene to very long lenses (300mm) to give a close up shot of a particular detail.

How much does it cost and how can I pay?    We offer very competitive rates for our elevated photography service.  We guarantee, as long as the assignment does not differ from the details given at the time of booking, there will be no hidden extras.  We will expect payment in advance or, for account/commercial customers, upon invoice.   Please see our rates page.

How will the images be delivered to me?  The images can be stored on disk, emailed to you, stored on a secure area of our website (password protected) for you to access or uploaded to your own server via ftp.  Images will be shot in RAW and converted to the format of your choice.

We are a charity/non-profit organisation and we would love to have an elevated photograph of our premises/event but cannot afford to pay.  Can you help?  Yes.  Elevon Photography will, when other projects allow, take elevated photographs for charitable or non-profit organisations either free of charge or for a nominal fee to cover expenses.  Please just ask!
